What is artificial leather?
Artificial leather is a kind of mineral fiber which is classified as PU leather, synthetic leather and PVC artificial leather according to different raw materials. It is also called artificial fiber.
What is real leather?
Dermis is a kind of skin made mainly of animal skin and is an animal fiber.
What exactly is PU skin?
PU (one of the artificial leather mentioned above) is the most commonly used bag on the market besides genuine leather.

PU skin is the skin of polyurethane components. It is a layer of plastic products pressed on the base cloth. The relationship between PU skin and bottom is similar to that between butter and cake.
Development of PU skin in China
China has been producing PU skin since 1958.
The rise of China’s PU skin is partly due to the pursuit of large-scale construction in 1958, and the slogan of “big deal” and “special operation”. Therefore, PU production is an early industry in Chinese industry.
At present, PU leather has replaced the natural leather (dermis) with insufficient resources in domestic and foreign markets.
So, why does PU skin replace the dermis in large quantities?
The necessity of survival is different from luxury consumption. Your mother and elders advise you to buy genuine leather because it’s natural and precious. To eat (pigs, cows, sheep, etc.) for life is not against the laws of nature, but to kill for unnecessary things (to buy fur), it is heartache to kill the precious innocent animals indirectly. The acquisition of dermis is often accompanied by bloody killings.
(2) The dermis is scarce, water-resistant and can not be cleaned with water. If the dermis is maintained for a long time or improperly, it will crack and fall in price.
The formation of dermis (nitrated dermis and dyed dermis) causes great pollution and high cost. PU leather plate type is good, unlike low dermal integrity, dermis is prone to disabilities, insect injuries, lice injuries and so on. The skin is gorgeous, and the multicolored black is all right.
The basic price of ordinary first-coat cattle hide is between 18-23/foot, and calf hide is about 35 yuan/metre (1 foot = 34.8cm). The high price makes many bad traders get rid of the shortage and use the worst cuttings of dermis to synthesize the so-called good dermis.
It is often difficult to distinguish between two layers of PU skin. The price, appearance and durability of the prepared PU skin are higher than those of the two layers. It’s cheaper for 9-12 yuan a foot than for inferior dermis.
The synthetic PU leather is easy to handle, affordable and fearless of water and detergent.
