R (recycle) in RPET means circulation and recycling.

PET is polyethylene terephthalate. English name: polyethylene terephthalate,

Referred to as PET, it is a high polymer, which is derived from the dehydration condensation reaction of ethylene terephthalate.

Ethylene terephthalate is obtained by esterification of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol.

RPET means (recycled) polyethylene terephthalate, which is mostly used in industry, clothing, and home textiles.

What is RPET fabric?
RPET fabric, also known as recycled and recyclable fabric, is a new type of environmentally-friendly recycled fabric.

The yarn is made from discarded mineral water bottles and Coke bottles, also known as RPET fabric.

The RPET fabric uses the recycled eco-friendly fiber material recovered from the Coke bottle to break the recovered Coke bottle into pieces.

After spinning, it can be recycled and effectively reduce carbon dioxide emissions, saving nearly 80% energy compared to conventional process production of polyester fiber.

Can we use RPET fabric as the backing material for the water-based PU

Yes. if we use the RPET fabric as the backing material, that will lead water-based PU leather to fully meet the highest sustainability standards.

However, RPET fabrics are made from plastic bottles, cola bottles, etc., so not all fabrics can be RPET.
